Implications for certified organisations
- Certification continues against ISO 45001:2018 and no action is required as a result of the revision being under development.
- Organisations that maintain an integrated management system may want to align health and safety arrangements with changes already made for ISO 9001:2026 and ISO 14001:2026.
- No transition deadline exists yet, so transition planning should remain preparatory rather than scheduled.
- Ubicert will publish confirmed requirements and transition arrangements once the edition is published and accreditation decisions are made.
Practical preparation steps
- 1Continue to maintain and improve your ISO 45001:2018 management system and meet surveillance requirements.
- 2Monitor official ISO committee output rather than unverified commentary on the draft.
- 3If you operate an integrated system, review hazard identification and risk assessment alongside the climate and context changes made for ISO 14001:2026.
- 4Keep worker consultation records current and review how participation is evidenced.
- 5Brief your health and safety team that changes are anticipated but not yet published.
- 6Wait for confirmed transition arrangements from Ubicert before committing to a transition timetable.
Transition deadlines
No transition deadline has been officially confirmed. Dates will be published here once they are confirmed by ISO and the relevant accreditation arrangements are in place.
Ubicert will confirm the transition arrangements that apply to your certificate in writing before any change is made to it.
Frequently asked questions
Certification and accreditation notice
Ubicert will communicate applicable certification transition arrangements in accordance with relevant international requirements and SANAS accreditation decisions. Accredited certification to a revised standard will be offered only when the applicable accreditation requirements have been fulfilled.
Publication of a revised ISO standard does not by itself mean that Ubicert is accredited to certify against that edition. Certificates remain recorded against the edition under which they were issued until a transition is formally completed and communicated.
